Belvidere, IL – July 27th, 2015
The NCBA Pastors from Freeport, Rockford, Rockton, Machesney Park, and Belvidere met together to plan a way forward for our North Central Area. The meeting was well attended by both Pastors and concerned church members from our association and was held at Living Stones Belvidere a church replant in our association. There actually was enough people to have a full quorum and could have had an Executive board meeting if it had been planned. This is a welcome change.
Led by Pastor Herbert L. Jr Johnson, the Pastors restated that their purpose is to lead not dictate to the local association and that we need strong leadership moving forward to pull us back on track. The decision was made to work forward from what we have in the constitution of NCBA and develop a joint strategy to streamline the executive team and grow our association.
As an association, we have added weight of churches that do not support the association in attendance and have not shown an interest in coming along side each other. Together, we are purposefully contacting them and will ask them to stand with us. The intention is to draw those that want to act and move forward.
Discussion shifted to planing the next annual meeting. It was agreed that we should move forward with an Annual Meeting and Worship Rally combined. The date was chosen 26 October at 6:30pm-8:00pm with a fellowship time to follow with lite fare. The theme and speaker of the meeting was discussed as well and a general consensus was reached with Acts 1:8 and a theme of Gospel Outreach to be shared.
The meeting concluded with prayer from Pastor K. Ross Newland and a purpose to plan again as we move forward building up one another to reach out to the communities we live in.
